Octagon is an industry leader in innovative solutions for embedded industrial PCs.

Mission statement

Our customers demand rugged, reliable industrial computers. For over two decades we have been a world leader in user–friendly CPUs for harsh environments. We offer a total solution—both hardware and software—with free technical support. At Octagon our goal is to provide integrated and easy–to–use products with comprehensive support.

History

Octagon is a privately held company. We have designed and manufactured embedded computer products since 1981. Our corporate headquarters are in Westminster, CO, in the heart of Colorado's high tech region. The company sells to customers worldwide through a network of direct sales, representatives, and distributors in 40 countries.

The embedded industrial computer market

Our primary market consists of OEMs who embed computers in military & space applications, transportation, control, security and energy systems; and data acquisition. Our rugged computers are uniquely designed to withstand wide temperature ranges and shock and vibration. Because Octagon computers are smaller than most other industrial PCs, they can be used in many applications not served by the traditional market.

CORE SYSTEMS™ enclosure systems

In 2005 Octagon innovated a new design of CORE systems that offer out–of–the–box solutions for transportation, military and security applications. We offer two versions: IND–CORE™ and MIL–CORE™.

Our latest XMB–1 is part of our IND–CORE product line. It offers a “no compromise” design for a mobile server that optimizes the electrical, thermal and mechanical components for maximum reliability. The result is a powerful, yet fanless system in a rugged extrusion. The basic unit includes the processing power, power supply, memory and I/O for most applications. Yet, it can be easily expanded using PC/104 I/O function blocks or Octagon’s XBLOK™ half–size PC/104 expansion modules.

Applications include planes, trains, buses, military, homeland security, police, communications, and SCADA markets. The PC architecture uses Linux, Windows® and other popular operating systems. Octagon has OS Embedder™ kits for easy installation of these operating systems as well as drivers for all the hardware. Choose your OS/choose your SBC We provide OS kits for Windows® CE.net and XP, Linux, and DOS for industrial computers ranging from palm–sized CPUs to PC/104 to EBX wireless–ready SBCs to our CORE systems. Included is technical support for both hardware and software. Buying an Octagon OS kit can significantly reduce the time to market without cost overruns and without extended schedules.
